Prof. Dr. med. Christian Ewald
Am 01.11.2016 hat Prof. Dr. Christian Ewald die Leitung der Neurochirurgischen Klinik am Städtischen Klinikum Brandenburg GmbH übernommen. Nach einer kurzen Übergangszeit hat er Herrn Dr. Rudolph, der seit 1994 Chefarzt der Klinik war, abgelöst.
Professor Ewald ist im Rheinland geboren und aufgewachsen. Er hat in Köln studiert und dort 1996 promoviert. Seine neurochirurgische Laufbahn hat er von 1996 bis 2002 in Duisburg begonnen. Nach Absolvieren der Facharztprüfung war er zunächst als Facharzt, dann als Oberarzt und schlussendlich als stellvertretender Klinikdirektor in der Klinik und Poliklinik für Neurochirurgie des Universitätsklinikums Jena tätig.
Als besondere Schwerpunkte von Herrn Ewald gelten komplexe, auch traumatologische und onkologische Wirbelsäuleneingriffe insbesondere im Bereich der Halswirbelsäule, die vaskuläre Neurochirurgie sowie die operative Behandlung von Tumoren des zentralen Nervensystems sowohl bei erwachsenen Patienten, als auch bei Kindern.
Verfahren der funktionellen Neurochirurgie mit besonderer Fokussierung auf die so genannte Neuromodulation bzw. der invasiven Schmerztherapie widmet er sich mit zunehmendem Interesse.
Wissenschaftliche Schwerpunkte sind zum einen die experimentelle Neuroonkologie sowie die klinische und experimentelle Forschung zur Diagnostik und Therapie von Wirbelsäulenerkrankungen beim älteren Menschen. Insgesamt hat Herr Professor Ewald viele Artikel in wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften veröffentlicht und sich in der studentischen Ausbildung bereits in Thüringen einen Namen gemacht. Herr Ewald hat 2009 an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Friedrich- Schiller- Universität Jena habilitiert und 2015 wurde ihm die Würde zum außerplanmäßigen Professor für Neurochirurgie in Jena verliehen.
Als Dozent an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena will sich Herr Ewald auch am Städtischen Klinikum Brandenburg als Hochschulklinikum der Medizinischen Hochschule Brandenburg MHB in Forschung und Lehre einbringen.
